The Old School Tearoom, Carburton, Worksop, Nottinghamshire Tel 01909 483517
This unique country tea room is actually in a converted 1930's school which still incorporates some of the original features of the school. On entering the shop there is an old school desk and the menu is written on the old school blackboard and easel, even the original children's hand basins are still in the wc's.
Instead of school books on the shelves there is now a display of local woodwork, greetings cards and handmade prints from local artists.
Everything is home-baked from fruit pies, cakes and scones with an additional savoury tea (cheese scones with cheese, celery and chutney) available, with a selection of different teas and at a very reasonable price.
Its original and cosy and is another tea shop to have an award from the Tea Council for “Excellence”. It's also sited opposite one of the entrances to Clumber Park in Sherwood Forest.
